It was a bit hidden, offered incredible sunset views and irregular meal hours, and was relatively quiet. If you love the aft view, it’s a great place to watch the ship’s wake. Choices included the Rendezvous Lounge, Pool and Mast Bar, Cellar Masters, and my personal favorite, the Sunset Bar. But food packages aren’t for everyone, and the food on the ship is so good it’s definitely not necessary. The complementary options for dining included the Oceanview Café, Mast Grill, and Cosmopolitan Restaurant.

Recently, for my annual friends’ cruise, we decided to go outside our comfort zone and sail on a new cruise line. We booked a four-night sailing on the Celebrity Summit, with stops in Nassau and Bimini Bahamas. As adults traveling without kids, the Solarium was especially nice. It includes two hot tubs, a warm heated salt pool with waterfalls and jets, and an AquaSpa Cafe. It’s all included with your cruise price, and while it’s adjacent to the spa, access to it isn’t restricted to spa guests. The thallostherapy pool is definitely a favorite of many Celebrity Summit cruisers.
Looking for a grab-and-go meal while hanging out by the pool? They serve up decent burgers (including a veggie burger) and fries at the Pool Grill. There seem to be fewer drawers, more shelves, and more open space across the various categories. Another thing one notices while exploring the ship is the striking array of artwork on display, including several fun, Instagram-worthy pieces. It’s amazing how something as simple as the colors chosen for furnishings and other design elements can transform a space from stuffy to contemporary, as has happened in numerous public areas around Summit.
While the app indicated that the Solarium closed at 10 p.m., it was closed at 9 p.m., and guests who were in the Solarium pool at this time were asked to leave. In addition to Oceanview and the main dining room, we also booked two excellent specialty dinners - the Tuscan Grill and Qsine (Le Petit Chef). I’d especially recommend Qsine because the food was delicious and the Le Petit Chef experience is very unique. We loved everything on the Oceanview buffet and even chose to dine there one night rather than in the main dining room. Then, we went to our stateroom, which was surprisingly already clean and waiting for us. It was so nice to drop off our day bags before exploring the ship.
This last restaurant is quirky enough that it’s probably not for picky eaters. But meals here are as Instagrammable as they are experimental. The coffee shop onboard is Cafe al Bacio, which serves gelatos, pastries, and different coffees. Cabin was very spacious, incredibly clean, and very very comfortable. Zero outside noise issues even though deck 12 is a public space.
Because we had booked the concierge level, we were invited to a sit-down lunch in the main dining room on embarkation day. This was such a nice, relaxing lunch, where we had the opportunity to sit and look at the schedule for our sailing and start planning our must-do activities. We had two port days and one sea day during our sailing, and there were plenty of activities scheduled to keep us busy. In addition, there are some great amenities on the ship to take advantage of during your time on board.
Celebrity Summit Ship Specifications
I would highly recommend this ship for adults traveling solo or with older kids. While it was my first time on one of the Celebrity ships, it definitely won’t be my last. Then, in April 2024, she moves to Los Angeles, CA, with a 14-day sailing through the Panama Canal. From there, she’ll sail from LA to Vancouver on a 6-night sailing. From there she’ll spend the summer on an Alaskan itinerary. Ports of call during this time include Nassau and Bimini, Nassau and Cozumel, Key West and Bimini, Key West and Cozumel, Key West and Nassau, and Cozumel.
I think if you were sailing with young children and were looking for a very kid-friendly experience you probably would be disappointed. Our sailing also had several other performances in the main theater, including a comedian and a musical act. Both of those were a lot of fun and it was worth attending those. I always love to watch the cruise entertainment at night after dinner - especially the large-scale, Broadway-style shows that generally take place in the main theater. On the Celebrity Summit, there were two different evening shows held on nights 2 and 4. One thing that did surprise us, however, was the pool and Solarium hours.

In contrast, others are massive (a stunning new ceiling treatment and all-new furniture, including several tables with high-back chairs that offer an almost cocoon-like experience). It was easy to see why Celebrity is considered a top cruise experience, with impeccable service, amazing facilities, and top-of-the-line amenities at every turn. The first thing that struck me was how modern and updated everything looked, despite the ship being over 20 years old. From its 2019 refurbishment, every part of the vessel looked brand new.
More than a few people could be heard raving (and, of course, complaining) about the fact they could hang out in the casino without dealing with the smoky atmosphere found on other ships. Wandering the ship, it quickly becomes evident that each of the bars on board has a distinct personality. As a result, people tend to find the one which best meets their needs and become a regular there.
